Overview

The Meike 25mm f/0.95 is a chunky, fully manual lens for Micro Four Thirds cameras. It's built for one thing: letting in a crazy amount of light. With an f/0.95 aperture, it's in the 99th percentile for brightness, making it a specialist tool for low-light and creative shooting.

Just know what you're getting into. It's fully manual focus only, weighs a solid 712g, and its build quality lands in a pretty low 11th percentile. This isn't your everyday walk-around lens. It's for when you want to play with extreme depth of field or shoot in near darkness.

Performance

Performance is a mixed bag, but the highs are very high. That f/0.95 aperture is the star, creating incredibly shallow depth of field and beautiful bokeh (92nd percentile). It also has built-in stabilization, which is a nice bonus for a manual lens. The downsides? Manual focus can be tricky at such a wide aperture, and the optical quality (71st percentile) isn't class-leading. You might see some softness wide open, but that's often part of the character with these ultra-fast lenses.

Value & Pricing

At around $189, the value proposition is pretty clear. You're getting an extreme aperture that's usually reserved for lenses costing many times more. You're paying for that optical trick, not for luxury build or autofocus. If f/0.95 is your goal on a budget, this is one of the few ways to get it.

vs Competition

Compared to the Viltrox 25mm f/1.7 AF, you lose autofocus but gain over a full stop of light and much creamier bokeh. Against the Panasonic 14-140mm zoom, you lose all versatility but gain that magical low-light ability. The real internal debate is with Meike's own 55mm f/1.8 Pro, which has autofocus and likely better build, but a slower aperture and a tighter field of view. It comes down to aperture speed versus convenience.

Verdict

Buy this lens if you're a Micro Four Thirds shooter who loves manual control and wants to experiment with the most extreme depth of field possible. It's perfect for portraitists, astrophotographers, or anyone chasing that cinematic look on a tight budget. Just don't expect it to be your only lens.
