Viltrox Fujinon XF Viltrox AF 15mm f/1.7 Air XF Lens (FUJIFILM X) Review

The Viltrox 15mm f/1.7 is a fast, lightweight prime for Fujifilm X-mount cameras. It gives you a 22.5mm full-frame equivalent field of view, which is perfect for street photography and tight interiors.

At just 181 grams, this lens is a featherweight. It's built surprisingly well for the price, landing in the 94th percentile for build quality. But it's not weather-sealed, so keep that in mind.

The f/1.7 aperture is the star here. It's fast, letting in plenty of light for low-light shooting and giving you nice subject separation for a wide-angle lens. Bokeh quality is solid, scoring in the 83rd percentile. Optical performance is good too, in the 75th percentile. The autofocus is the weak spot, sitting in the 47th percentile. It's not the fastest or quietest, but it gets the job done for most situations. There's no image stabilization, which is typical for a lens in this class.

At $239, this lens is a steal if you want a fast, wide prime without breaking the bank. You're getting a lot of lens for the money, especially that f/1.7 aperture and solid build. It's a fantastic value for street shooters and vloggers on a budget.

Compared to Fujifilm's own lenses, you're saving a ton of cash for similar optical performance. The Sony 15mm f/1.4 G is a better lens with faster AF and weather sealing, but it's also over twice the price. Against other Viltrox primes like their 35mm f/1.7, this 15mm is wider and lighter, but the 35mm might be more versatile for general use. The Meike 35mm f/1.8 is another budget option, but it's a different focal length entirely.

Buy this if you're a Fujifilm shooter who wants a lightweight, fast wide-angle for street photography, travel, or indoor shots. It's perfect for keeping your kit small. Skip it if you need weather sealing, top-tier autofocus speed, or shoot a lot of landscapes where it struggles.
