MSI Cyborg 14 A13VE-092US 14" Review
The MSI Cyborg 14 nails portability but makes serious compromises on battery life and ports. It's a good laptop only if you absolutely need a tiny gaming machine.
Overview
The MSI Cyborg 14 is a solid little gaming laptop that gets the basics right, but it's not going to blow anyone away. The one thing you need to know is that this is a machine built for portability first, with gaming performance that's good enough for most titles at medium to high settings. It's a 14-inch laptop that actually feels like a 14-inch laptop, and that's its biggest strength.
Performance
The RTX 4050 is the star here, landing in the 73rd percentile for GPU performance. That's enough to handle most modern games at this 1920x1200 resolution, especially with that 144Hz refresh rate. The 32GB of RAM is a nice surprise at this price point, and it means you won't be bottlenecked by memory in games or while multitasking. The Intel 13620H CPU is fine, but it's the most average part of the package.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- Incredibly portable at just 1.6kg. 93th
- 32GB of RAM is overkill in the best way. 77th
- The 144Hz screen is smooth and responsive for gaming. 77th
- Performance is reliable for its size and price. 75th
Cons
- The port selection is terrible, ranking in the bottom 15th percentile. 14th
- Battery life from the 54Wh cell is predictably rough.
- The 1920x1200 screen is just okay, with mediocre color and brightness.
- It gets loud under load, which is typical for a laptop this small.

Value & Pricing
At $1399, it's a fair deal. You're paying for the portability and that generous 32GB of RAM. If you need a truly compact gaming machine and don't care about battery life, it's worth considering. If you can live with a bigger laptop, you'll get more performance for your money elsewhere.
Price History
vs Competition
Compared to the ASUS Zenbook Duo, the Cyborg is a pure gaming machine while the Zenbook is a productivity powerhouse with its dual screens. Against the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i, you're giving up a ton of raw power and screen real estate for the Cyborg's portability. The Legion will crush it in games, but you can't slip a 16-inch laptop into a small backpack. The Apple MacBook Pro isn't a gaming competitor, but it highlights the Cyborg's weak battery life and screen quality.

Verdict
Buy the MSI Cyborg 14 if you travel constantly and need a gaming-capable laptop that won't break your back. It's a great 'one-bag' machine. For everyone else, especially if you game mostly at a desk, a larger 16-inch laptop like the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i will give you significantly better performance, thermals, and screen quality for a similar price. The Cyborg's compromises are just too big if you don't absolutely need its tiny form factor.
