HP Thin HP 14 Laptop Ultra Thin & Light, Intel N150 Review
The HP Thin 14 packs 128GB of RAM you'll never use, paired with a painfully slow processor and a terrible screen. It's a confusing and easy-to-skip laptop.
Overview
Let's get the big number out of the way first: this HP Thin 14 has 128GB of RAM. That's in the 99th percentile, which is frankly wild for a laptop in this price bracket. But that's where the good news ends. The Intel N150 processor sits in the 9th percentile, and the 1366x768 display is in the 3rd. You're looking at a machine built for one very specific, memory-heavy task, and not much else.
It weighs 3.17kg, which is heavy for a 'Thin & Light', landing it in the 61st percentile for compactness. Our scoring says it's best for basic student work (55.4/100) and being compact (54/100). For anything requiring speed or a decent screen, like gaming (11.7/100), forget it.
Performance
Performance is a story of extremes. That 128GB of DDR4 RAM is massive overkill. For basic web browsing and document editing, you'll never come close to using it. The bottleneck is everywhere else. The Intel N150 CPU is a 4-core chip running at 0.1GHz, which puts it in the bottom 10% for processing power. Expect slowdowns with more than a few browser tabs open.
The integrated GPU is in the 18th percentile, so even light video playback might stutter. Storage is also a constraint at just 128GB, landing in the 9th percentile. After Windows 11, you won't have much room left. This isn't a performance laptop; it's a RAM showcase attached to a very slow computer.

Value & Pricing
At around $255, the value proposition is weird. You're paying for an enormous amount of RAM you'll never use, while sacrificing on every other critical component: CPU, screen, storage, and even weight. For the same money, you could find laptops with less RAM but much better overall performance and screens. The price consistency is good, but it doesn't make up for the fundamental imbalance in the specs.
Price History
vs Competition
Compared to anything on the competitor list, like a MacBook Pro or an ASUS Zenbook, this HP isn't even in the same league. Those are performance machines. A more relevant comparison would be other budget Windows laptops. Even there, this HP loses. Most $250 laptops have similar slow CPUs, but they often have better 1080p screens, more storage, and weigh less. The 128GB RAM is this laptop's only party trick, and it's a trick 99% of users don't need. You're trading a good screen, a usable amount of storage, and a reasonable weight for RAM you can't utilize.

Verdict
I can't recommend this for almost anyone. The 128GB of RAM is a spec sheet marvel that serves no practical purpose for the tasks this laptop's weak CPU and terrible screen can handle. You're better off with a cheaper laptop that has a better screen and more storage, or spending a bit more for a balanced system. This is a case study in how one extreme spec doesn't make a good product. Hard pass.
