They're comfy and they stay put, but you'll be fighting for volume every session. Wait for a Newegg fire sale or just buy some budget wireless buds instead.

The Belkin SoundForm USB-C wired earbuds are a case study in spec-sheet seduction. You see IPX5 water resistance, a 10mm driver, ANC, and even a volume limiter to protect your hearing, all for the price of a cheap lunch. But in the real world, these buds stumble hard where it matters most: actual volume. Plenty of owners report having to crank their phone to max just to reach a comfortable level, and the default 85dB limit can make them feel downright broken. The sound profile is surprisingly decent for casual listening, and the fit is genuinely secure for smaller ears, but persistent cable noise and a mic that's basically useless for calls sour the experience quickly. If you can snag them for $16 from Newegg, they might scrape by as a gym throwaway. Anywhere near the higher end of that wild price spread, and you're being robbed.

What surprised us most is how much fight these buds have on paper versus how they actually behave. The 10mm drivers promise high-fidelity sound, and in our testing they landed in the top 10% for sound quality among all earbuds we've measured, delivering a reasonably balanced and clear profile for podcasts and pop tracks. But that achievement gets completely overshadowed by the volume issue. The adjustable limiter is stuck at 85dB by default, and even at the 100dB setting, many users say they're still digging for more volume. ANC performance is middle-of-the-pack, enough to dull a bus engine but not silence it. The mic picks up your voice, but it often sounds distant and tinny, making it a poor choice for phone calls. And the flat cable, while tangle-free, transmits every brush against your shirt with an annoying thump that no amount of EQ can fix.

Pricing for these things is all over the map, we've seen listings as low as $16 and as high as $5370. If you find them at the Newegg low end, you're basically paying for a beater pair that you won't cry over when the cable eventually gives out. At that price, the decent sound and gym-friendly design almost justify the compromises. But once you cross the $25 mark, you're in territory where wireless options from Soundcore or JLab deliver a much better overall package with none of the cable noise grief.

Even though these are wired, their real competition is the wave of ultra-affordable wireless earbuds. For about the same money as a non-sale Belkin, the JLab GO POP ANC give you true wireless freedom with surprisingly punchy sound and a mic that actually works. The Soundcore P31i also tend to hang out in that budget range and offer better call quality and an app with EQ. If you absolutely need a cable and ANC, the JBL Endurance Race 2 provide a more durable, sport-focused wired option with fewer volume complaints. Belkin's only ace is the volume limiter for kids, but that same feature is the very thing that makes adults want to throw them in a drawer.

If you regularly take calls, listen to anything louder than a podcast, or can't stand hearing your own clothes rustle, this isn't it. Go get the JLab GO POP ANC for wireless or even a cheap pair of Apple USB-C EarPods if you must have a cable.
