Con 1.08 kg, un chasis de carbono reciclado y un grosor que apenas notas en la mochila, este bicho está pensado para los que viven de aeropuerto en aeropuerto. Nuestra unidad de pruebas venía con el Intel Core Ultra 5-135U, 32 GB de RAM y una pantalla de 14" WUXGA IPS, todo por un precio que baila entre los $2129 y los $2364 según dónde mires, una diferencia de $235 que conviene comparar.
Lenovo no se ha vuelto loca: la esencia ThinkPad sigue intacta. El trackpoint rojo, el teclado que hace que te salgan artículos enteros sin cansarte, y una selección de puertos que incluye USB-A, HDMI 2.1 y Thunderbolt, así que los dongles se quedan en casa. Eso sí, los usuarios avisan: el acabado negro mate atrae huellas como un imán y el micrófono integrado no es el mejor aliado en videollamadas. Pero si lo que te importa es la fiabilidad de usar un tanque ligero cada día, este Gen 12 tiene mucho que decir.
Rendimiento
El Intel Core Ultra 5-135U no es de los que rompen récords: en nuestros benchmarks se queda justo en la media del segmento (percentil 49). Dicho sin filtros, para ofimática, correo, Teams y una docena de pestañas de Chrome, va sobrado, pero no esperes milagros renderizando vídeo o con cargas de datos pesadas. La verdadera estrella aquí son los 32 GB de RAM LPDDR5X, en el percentil 90 de nuestra base de datos, así que la multitarea es un chiste: puedes tener Excel, zoom y tres escritorios virtuales abiertos sin que el sistema tosa. La gráfica integrada de Intel cumple para mover la pantalla y algún vídeo 4K ocasional, pero está en un discreto percentil 54, así que olvídate de juegos o de edición de vídeo seria. El SSD de 512 GB responde bien en el día a día, aunque hay rivales con el doble de capacidad por este precio. En uso real, todo se siente rápido y sin tirones, que al final es lo que pide un portátil de trabajo.

Relación calidad-precio
Ojo, que los precios varían $235 entre tiendas, así que merece la pena buscar el mejor chollo (en torno a $2129 en el momento de escribir esto). Por ese dinero, puede que eches de menos una CPU más ambiciosa o una pantalla OLED, pero lo que estás pagando es ingeniería, ligereza y ese teclado que no encuentras en ningún otro sitio. Si valoras la sensación de llevar un equipo que aguanta el trajín diario sin quejarse, el X1 Carbon se defiende. Ahora bien, si tu prioridad es la relación potencia/precio, el Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro o el MSI Prestige ofrecen specs similares gastando un poco menos, aunque sacrifican el trackpoint y parte del aura ThinkPad.
Frente a la competencia
Frente al Samsung Galaxy Book5 Pro, el X1 Carbon gana por goleada en puertos: los dos USB-A y el HDMI 2.1 te evitan comprar adaptadores, y el teclado lenovo es simplemente otra liga. El Galaxy es también muy fino, pero su tacto al escribir no convence tanto. Si te asomas al MacBook Pro M4 Max, la comparación se vuelve surrealista: el Mac es una bestia de rendimiento, pero pesa bastante más y cuesta un riñón, mientras el ThinkPad va de ser un compañero ligero para productividad pura. El MSI Prestige comparte la filosofía ultraligera, aunque según los propios compradores, la calidad de construcción del ThinkPad está un escalón por encima. El rendimiento cumple de sobra para la oficina, los 32 GB te dan margen para años, y los puertos te quitan el dolor de cabeza de llevar un hub. Es uno de los portátiles mejor construidos que hemos probado y la experiencia de escritura sigue siendo referente.
Pero ojo: si tocas algo de edición de vídeo, diseño 3D o simplemente te gusta jugar un rato, esta máquina no va contigo. Y si no quieres gastar más de dos mil dólares en un equipo con un procesador justito para las necesidades básicas, busca alternativas como el HP ZBook Ultra G1a o un ultrabook con Core Ultra 7. Para el perfil ejecutivo o de productividad a ultranza, el rey sigue siendo el X1 Carbon.
