HP Fortis 11.6" x360 G5 2-in-1 Review

This HP Fortis x360 is a small, rugged 2-in-1 Chromebook. It's built for classrooms or rough handling, not for power. You get an 11.6-inch touchscreen, a 360-degree hinge, and Chrome OS, all in a package that feels tough. Just know you're trading performance for that durability from the start.

The Intel Celeron processor is in the 6th percentile for speed, so it's slow. It'll handle basic web browsing and a few Chrome tabs, but that's it. The 64GB of eMMC storage is also painfully small. The GPU lands in the 43rd percentile, so don't even think about gaming. Its one bright spot is portability, scoring in the 97th percentile for compactness.

At around $360, it's not a great deal. You're paying mostly for the rugged, convertible form factor. For similar money, you could get a standard Chromebook with a faster processor and more storage, just without the tank-like build. It only makes sense if durability is your absolute top priority.

Don't compare this to the MacBooks or gaming laptops on the list—that's a different universe. Look at other budget Chromebooks instead. Compared to something like an Acer Chromebook Spin, the Fortis wins on ruggedness but loses on speed and screen quality. Against a standard Lenovo Chromebook, you're choosing between this thing's toughness and a better overall experience for the same cash.

Buy this only if you need a nearly indestructible Chromebook for a kid's classroom or a very specific, rough job site. For any other student or general use, its slow speed and tiny storage are massive drawbacks. There are better values out there.
