The Lenovo Idea Tab gives you a gorgeous 2.5K 90Hz screen and a usable stylus in a package that starts absurdly cheap. Entertainment is its strong suit (63.1/100), but productivity is painfully weak. Grab it around $180 on Newegg and you won't regret it, just don't plan on editing spreadsheets.

The Lenovo Idea Tab is basically a student's sidekick that won't empty your wallet. It ships with a battery-powered stylus, a sharp 11-inch 2.5K display, and enough oomph for streaming, reading, and light note-taking. For the price, it's a solid media slate, but we wouldn't push it much beyond that.

Lenovo tossed in an AI-powered "Smart Connect" ecosystem for file sharing and paired the whole package with Android 15. The 90Hz refresh rate makes scrolling feel smooth, and the Dolby Atmos speakers are a nice bonus for watching videos. But the moment you try anything resembling real work, the cracks start showing.

The 2.5K IPS panel is a real standout, sitting in the top tier of tablets we've tested, with 500 nits of brightness that hold up indoors. The MediaTek Dimensity 6300 and its graphics punch above what you'd expect for this class, so gaming and video streaming are smooth. However, the productivity score of 40 out of 100 is a cold splash of water; this chip isn't built for heavy multitasking or creative apps. The 8GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS storage are about average, not slow but not snappy either. Battery life from the 7040mAh cell is decent, landing in the upper middle of our database, so you'll get through a school day without hunting for a charger.

We saw prices all over the map, from $180 up to a jaw-dropping $6,550. That high end is absurd for what you get, but at the low end, this tablet makes a ton of sense. The $180 deal on Newegg is where you want to be; anything above $250 and you're overpaying. For a bundled tablet and pen, that entry price is tough to beat if your needs are basic.

Stacked against the Apple iPad Air M4, the Lenovo Idea Tab looks like a toy for real work, but it's also a fraction of the cost. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ comes closer as a student buddy, with a better productivity suite and a more premium S Pen, though it usually runs pricier. The Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro smokes it on raw speed, but Xiaomi's software support can be spotty. If you need to sketch professionally or run desktop-grade apps, any of those three are the better pick; for casual notes and Netflix, the Lenovo holds its own.

Skip this one if you need to run full desktop productivity apps or create detailed digital art. The weak processing power and lack of a keyboard ecosystem mean it'll frustrate you if your workload goes beyond simple note-taking and media. Look at a used iPad or a Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ instead.

This is a tablet for students who want to take handwritten notes, watch lectures, and kick back with YouTube, all without spending much. It's not a laptop replacement and definitely not a digital art studio. If your expectations match its price tag, you'll be happy with the bright screen and included pen.
