HP 15.6" 255R G10 Review
The HP 255R G10 gets the basics right but charges too much for them. Its dim screen and small storage make it a hard sell at $839 when better laptops cost the same.
Overview
The HP 255R G10 is a basic workhorse laptop. It's got the specs for everyday tasks like web browsing, documents, and video calls, but it's not trying to be anything more than that.
You get a 15.6-inch screen, 16GB of RAM, and a decent AMD 6-core CPU. It's a simple machine for simple jobs, and that's perfectly fine if that's what you need.
Performance
The AMD 7535U CPU is okay, landing in the 39th percentile. It'll handle office work and multiple browser tabs without much fuss. The integrated graphics are predictably weak, scoring in the bottom 20%, so forget about gaming or video editing. The real letdown is the screen. At 250 nits and in the 7th percentile, it's dim and not great for anything but indoor use.

Value & Pricing
At $839, this is a tough sell. You're paying for a laptop with a bad screen, small storage, and mediocre overall performance. For the same money, you can find competitors with much better displays, faster processors, and larger SSDs. It feels overpriced for what you actually get.
Price History
vs Competition
Don't compare this to the MacBook Pro or gaming laptops like the MSI Vector. That's not its world. Look at other budget 15-inch laptops. The ASUS Zenbook Duo, for example, offers way more innovation with its dual-screen design for a similar price point. Even a basic Lenovo IdeaPad often gives you a better screen and more storage for less cash. This HP struggles to justify its price tag against almost any direct rival.

Verdict
Only consider this if you need Windows 11 Pro for specific work software and you're on a very strict budget where every other option is out of stock. For almost everyone else, especially students or developers it claims to suit, there are better values out there with brighter screens and more reliable performance.
