ASUS Thin ASUS Laptop L410 Ultra Thin Laptop, 14" FHD Review

Let's be real upfront: this is a cheap laptop for a reason. The one thing you need to know is that the ASUS L410 is built for one thing only: being the absolute bare minimum you need to run Windows. It's thin, it's light, and it has a surprisingly decent 1080p screen. But under the hood, it's packing specs that were low-end a decade ago. If your entire digital life is in a web browser with three tabs open, this might work. For literally anything else, you'll hit a wall immediately.

Honestly, the biggest surprise is that it boots up at all with only 4GB of RAM and a 64GB eMMC drive. That storage is in the 6th percentile, which is abysmal. After Windows and a few updates, you'll have maybe 20GB left. The Intel Celeron CPU is in the 4th percentile, so don't expect to multitask. Opening a second app while a webpage loads will make everything stutter. The only thing that performs okay is basic video playback, thanks to that 1080p screen.

At $252, it's cheap, but it's not a good value. You're paying for a portable screen with a terrible computer attached. For just a bit more money, you could find a used or refurbished business laptop with actual, usable specs. This feels like a trap for someone who doesn't know any better.

Forget the gaming laptops on the competitor list; that's not even a conversation. The real comparison is against used models. A refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad from a few years ago at a similar price will have a better CPU, 8GB of RAM, and a proper 256GB SSD, making it infinitely more usable. Even compared to other cheap new laptops, the L410's storage and RAM are deal-breakers. The Apple MacBook Pro isn't a competitor; it's in a different universe.

I can't recommend this laptop to anyone. Its specs are so fundamentally inadequate that it creates a frustrating user experience from day one. The 4GB RAM and 64GB storage are anchors that will sink any attempt at productivity. If your budget is $250, buy a used laptop from a reputable seller. You'll get a machine that actually works. The ASUS L410 is only for someone who needs the absolute cheapest new Windows license possible and understands they're buying a glorified web terminal.
