The ALOGIC Edge 40" is a gorgeous, well-connected command center for your desk, but it's not built for speed. Get it for the screen space and colors, not the frame rates.

The ALOGIC Edge 40" Ultrawide is a big, beautiful screen that's more about looking good than being fast. The one thing you need to know is this: it's a productivity and creative powerhouse, not a gaming monitor. With its 40-inch IPS panel and 3440x1440 resolution, it gives you a ton of real estate for spreadsheets, timelines, or multiple windows, and the colors are fantastic. But that 100Hz refresh rate and 4ms response time? That's just okay. It's smooth enough for general use, but don't expect it to compete with dedicated high-refresh gaming displays.

The performance is exactly what you'd expect from the specs, which is both good and bad. It's fast enough for everyday tasks and even some light gaming, but our database puts its overall performance score in the 58th percentile. That means it's solidly average in raw speed. What surprised us was how good the connectivity is—it's in the 94th percentile. But if raw speed or gaming performance is your priority, that money goes a lot further elsewhere. You're paying for the size and the ports, not the frame rates.

This sits in a weird spot. The Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 is a gaming monster with a higher refresh rate, but it's also more expensive and has a different panel type. The Dell UltraSharp 27" 4K is a sharper, more professional-focused display but gives up the ultrawide real estate. The ALOGIC's main play is being a giant, well-connected IPS screen. If you're choosing between this and the LG UltraGear 45", know that the LG is built for speed, while the ALOGIC is built for workspace and color fidelity.

Hardcore gamers should skip this. That 100Hz refresh rate and 4ms response time will hold you back. Go get the ASUS ROG Swift or the MSI MPG instead for buttery-smooth, blur-free action. Also, if you're tight on space or budget, a 34-inch ultrawide will give you a similar experience for less money and desk real estate.

We recommend the ALOGIC Edge 40" Ultrawide if your primary needs are screen real estate for productivity, content creation, or multitasking, and you value seamless connectivity with modern laptops. It's a fantastic command center. For everyone else, especially gamers or those on a tighter budget, there are better, faster, or cheaper options that do one thing exceptionally well instead of being pretty good at a lot of things.
