Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10+ 12.4" Platinum Silver Review

The Galaxy Tab S10+ has amazing AI tricks for artists, but its terrible storage value and mediocre battery make it hard to recommend over an iPad or Surface.

Overview

The Galaxy Tab S10+ is a weird one. It's packed with genuinely cool AI features that make drawing and note-taking feel like magic, but Samsung skimped on the basics in a way that's hard to ignore. The one thing to know? You're paying a premium for software smarts, not hardware muscle. That 12GB of RAM is solid, but the 512GB of storage is a joke at this price, and the battery life is just average.

Performance

The performance was a surprise, but not in the way you'd hope. The CPU and GPU land in the 80th percentile, so it's definitely fast for Android apps. But that 30th percentile RAM ranking and the absolute bottom-of-the-barrel 1st percentile storage score tell the real story. It feels powerful until you try to do a few things at once or realize you're already running out of space. The hardware feels like it's holding the clever software back.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • The AI features, like Sketch to Image and Note Assist, are genuinely useful and fun. 94th
  • The 12.4-inch screen is beautiful and great for drawing. 93th
  • It comes with a stylus, which is a big plus for artists and note-takers. 90th
  • Build quality feels premium and it's relatively light for its size. 90th

Cons

  • The storage is a complete ripoff. 512GB for over $800 is embarrassing in 2024.
  • Battery life is mediocre, landing below average.
  • Only 12GB of RAM feels limiting for a 'pro' tablet, especially with all these AI features.
  • The Wi-Fi connectivity is stuck on an older standard (802.11g), which is slow.

Value & Pricing

At $837, it's a tough sell. You're paying a lot for AI tricks wrapped in a body with some dated specs. If those specific Galaxy AI features are your entire world, maybe. For everyone else, there are better values out there.

vs Competition

This is where it gets rough. The Apple iPad Pro M5 runs circles around it in raw power and app optimization, and it has way better accessory support. The Microsoft Surface Pro 11 is a full Windows PC in a similar form factor, making it infinitely better for real work. Even against its own cheaper 256GB sibling, this 512GB model's storage price hike looks insane. The Tab S10+ only wins if you're deeply invested in the Samsung ecosystem and absolutely need those AI doodads.

Verdict

I can't recommend the 512GB Galaxy Tab S10+ to most people. The AI features are cool party tricks, but they don't make up for the poor storage value and middling battery life. If you want a tablet for art and notes and are all-in on Samsung, get the 256GB version and a big microSD card. If you want power or productivity, buy an iPad Pro or a Surface Pro instead. This one tries to be clever but forgets to be good.
