Apple iPad mini Compulocks 8.3" Secured Kickstand Review
This heavy-duty case turns an iPad mini into a locked-down kiosk. It's great for that one job, but a terrible choice for anything else.
Overview
This is a secured iPad mini case, not a new tablet. It's the standard iPad mini 8.3" inside a heavy-duty protective shell. The whole point is the built-in metal kickstand and the lock slot for theft prevention. Think of it as a kiosk or point-of-sale setup, not something you'd casually toss in your bag.
Performance
Performance is just the standard iPad mini, which is fine for basic apps. Its CPU and GPU scores land in the 37th and 39th percentiles, so it's not a powerhouse. The screen is decent but not great, ranking in the 30th percentile. It's really built for simple, locked-down tasks, not heavy lifting.

Value & Pricing
At $128, you're only paying for the heavy-duty case and lock system. That's not bad for a security enclosure, but remember you still need to buy the iPad mini itself. As a complete package, the value is low because the tablet inside is mid-tier at best. You're paying a premium for security, not performance.
Price History
vs Competition
Don't compare this to an iPad Pro or Surface Pro. Those are full-powered computers. This is for a specific job. If you need a secure kiosk, this case does that well. If you want a tablet for entertainment or business, look at the standard iPad, Galaxy Tab S9, or even a Lenovo Legion Go for gaming. This Compulocks setup scores terribly for business and entertainment, so it's in its own category.

Verdict
Only buy this if you need to physically secure an iPad mini in one place, like for a menu board, rental counter, or classroom station. It's a niche product for a niche need. For literally any other use—reading, games, work—get a regular tablet and a normal case.
