The Acer TravelMate P4 Spin 14 is a solid 2-in-1 that gets the basics right, but it's priced like a premium machine without delivering premium performance. The one thing you need to know is that its $1200 price tag is its biggest problem. You're getting a capable, compact convertible with a touchscreen and 16GB of RAM, but the Intel Core i5-125U processor lands in the 40th percentile for CPU power. That means it's fine for office work and web browsing, but it's not a speed demon. For this kind of money, you expect more punch.

The performance was exactly what the specs suggested: perfectly adequate and a little underwhelming. The 12-core Intel 125U handled my daily workflow of a dozen Chrome tabs, Slack, and some light photo editing without breaking a sweat, but you can feel it's not a top-tier chip. The integrated graphics, sitting in the 18th percentile, confirm this is not a machine for anything beyond casual gaming or video streaming. What surprised me was the reliability score in the 8th percentile. That's a red flag for a business-focused laptop, suggesting potential long-term durability concerns that you wouldn't expect at this price.

At $1200, the value proposition just isn't there. You're paying a premium for the 2-in-1 form factor and Windows 11 Pro, but the core performance and reliability metrics don't justify the cost. It's not a bad laptop, but it's an overpriced one.

This is where it gets tricky. The most direct competitor is the ASUS Zenbook Duo, which offers a far more innovative dual-screen design for similar money. If you need a Windows convertible, the Zenbook is more compelling. For pure business reliability, a Lenovo ThinkPad at this price would likely have better build quality. And if raw performance is your goal, even some non-convertible laptops with newer Intel Ultra or AMD Ryzen chips will run circles around the TravelMate's older 125U for less cash.

I can't recommend the TravelMate P4 Spin 14 at its $1200 price. It's a decent 2-in-1 trapped in a bad value equation. Only consider it if you find it heavily discounted, you absolutely need a business-class convertible with Windows 11 Pro, and you can live with the reliability concerns. For everyone else, look at the ASUS Zenbook Duo for innovation or a standard clamshell laptop for better performance per dollar.
