Dell Latitude Dell 11.6" Latitude 3140 Multi-Touch 2-in-1 Laptop Review

The Dell Latitude 3140 is one of the most compact laptops you can buy, but its 4GB of RAM and weak Intel N100 CPU make it a tough sell at $629.

Overview

The Dell Latitude 3140 is a tiny laptop. At 1.42kg and an 11.6-inch screen, it's in the 98th percentile for compactness. That's its main selling point. But you're making serious trade-offs for that size. Its Intel N100 CPU and 4GB of RAM land in the 7th and 4th percentiles respectively, and the 128GB SSD is in the 9th percentile. This isn't a machine for heavy lifting.

Performance

Performance is exactly what you'd expect from those specs. The Intel N100 is fine for basic web browsing and document editing, but that's about it. The 4GB of RAM is a real bottleneck; you'll be hitting the page file quickly with more than a few browser tabs open. The Intel UHD Graphics and 1366x768 screen put it in the 43rd and 3rd percentiles, so don't expect any visual flair or gaming. It's built for one thing: being small and running Windows.

Value & Pricing

At $629, the value proposition is tough. You're paying a premium for the ultra-compact Dell Latitude form factor and Windows 11 Pro. For similar money, you could get a much more capable consumer laptop with double the RAM and storage, but it wouldn't be this small or have the business-oriented features. This is a niche buy for portability above all else.

vs Competition

Compared to other portables, it's a study in trade-offs. The ASUS Zenbook Duo is also a 2-in-1 but offers vastly better performance and dual screens for more money. The Lenovo ThinkPad P14s is a proper business laptop with far better specs and reliability, but it's heavier. Even an iPad with a keyboard might offer a smoother experience for basic tasks than this Latitude, given its hardware constraints. It only wins on pure physical size.

Verdict

I can only recommend the Dell Latitude 3140 if your absolute top priority is carrying the smallest possible Windows laptop. Its performance and storage are bottom-tier, and the $629 price is steep for what's inside. For most students or business users, spending a bit more for a standard 13-inch or 14-inch laptop with 8GB of RAM and a better CPU is a dramatically better investment. This is a specialty tool, not a daily driver.
