Canon EOS R7 Canon EOS R7 Mirrorless 32.5 MP Digital Camera Review
The Canon EOS R7 is built for speed. With blistering burst rates and class-leading autofocus, it's a top pick for action photographers, but it makes some trade-offs to get there.
Overview
The Canon EOS R7 is a powerhouse for photographers who want pro-level speed in an APS-C body. It's built like a tank, shoots like a machine gun, and has autofocus that feels like cheating. But it's not trying to be a do-it-all camera. Canon clearly focused on stills performance first, and that shows in the design choices.
Performance
This thing is a sports and wildlife beast. The 32.5MP sensor is sharp, and the autofocus lands in the 90th percentile. It locks onto subjects and doesn't let go. You get 15fps with the mechanical shutter and a wild 30fps with the electronic shutter. The IBIS is top-tier too, sitting in the 91st percentile for stabilization. The video is solid with 4K60 and C-Log 3, but the battery life and rear screen are just average, landing around the 50th and 44th percentiles respectively.

Value & Pricing
Prices swing from $1200 to $1449, so shop around. At the lower end, it's a fantastic deal for the performance you get. At the high end, you're brushing against some full-frame options. If you need that APS-C reach and speed, the value is there, especially if you find it on sale.
vs Competition
Against the Sony a6400, the R7 smokes it in autofocus, burst rate, and build quality. The Fujifilm X-S20 is a stronger all-rounder, especially for video creators, but the R7's autofocus and shooting speed are on another level for action. The Nikon Z8 is a full-frame monster in a different price league, but the R7 gives you that pro-grade speed in a smaller, more affordable APS-C package. It's a focused tool, not a jack-of-all-trades.

Verdict
Buy this if you shoot sports, wildlife, or fast-paced events and want pro-level speed without a full-frame price tag. It's not the best travel or vlogging camera, but for action photography, it's one of the best APS-C bodies you can get right now.
