The Nikon Zfc is a beautiful camera with a killer screen and great autofocus for vloggers, but that retro style comes at a price.

Overview

Look, the Nikon Zfc is a camera that's all about style. It's a retro-chic fashion accessory that happens to take pretty good pictures. The one thing you need to know is this: you're buying it for how it looks and feels in your hands, not because it's the most powerful camera in its class. That said, if you're a vlogger or YouTuber, it's got some surprisingly modern tricks up its sleeve.

Performance

What surprised me is how good the autofocus and stabilization are. Eye AF lands in the 96th percentile, and it's genuinely snappy and reliable for vlogging. The IBIS is in the 90th percentile, which is fantastic for handheld video. But don't get too excited about the sensor—it's a middle-of-the-pack 20.9MP APS-C chip. This camera is built for smooth video and quick snaps, not pixel-peeping.

Value & Pricing

At $1210 for this kit, it's a tough sell on pure specs. You're paying a premium for the design. If the look doesn't matter to you, there are better values. But if holding that classic silver body makes you want to shoot more, then maybe it's worth it for you.

vs Competition

Compared to the Fujifilm X-S20, you lose out on a much more powerful processor, better battery life, and superior video features. The X-S20 is a better tool. Against the Sony a6400, you get a far better screen and IBIS, but the Sony has a more proven autofocus system and a wider lens ecosystem. The Zfc wins on style and the vlogging experience, but loses on pure performance and value.

Verdict

Here's the deal: buy the Nikon Zfc if you're a style-focused creator who does a lot of vlogging and values the tactile, fun shooting experience above all else. It's a great camera for that. But if you're a hybrid shooter who also needs top-tier photo performance, or if you're on a budget, look at the Fujifilm X-S20 or even a used Sony a6400 instead. This is a niche camera, and it knows it.
