Dell Dell 14" Pro 14 Laptop Review

The Dell Pro 14 has every port you could want, but its slow processor and tiny 256GB SSD make it hard to recommend for most people.

Overview

The Dell Pro 14 is a weird one. It's got more ports than you'll ever need, but it's held back by a slow processor and a tiny SSD. If you're looking for a compact laptop that can connect to absolutely everything, this is it. But if you need actual speed or storage space, you'll want to look elsewhere.

Performance

The Intel 150U CPU lands in the 34th percentile, which is frankly not great for a laptop at this price. It'll handle basic tasks fine, but don't expect it to zip through anything demanding. The integrated Intel Graphics are predictably mediocre, scoring right in the middle of the pack. The only thing that's genuinely impressive here is the port selection, which is in the 99th percentile. You get Thunderbolt, three USB-A ports, and HDMI 2.1, so you'll never need a dongle.

Value & Pricing

At $1,457, this is a tough sell. You're paying a premium for the portability and connectivity, but you're getting a slow CPU and a tiny SSD. For the same money, you can get laptops with much better performance and storage.

vs Competition

This isn't really competing with gaming laptops like the Legion Pro 7i. It's more of a portable workhorse. The ASUS Zenbook Duo offers a more innovative dual-screen design for creative work, and even the base MacBook Pro 14" with an M3 chip will run circles around this Dell in performance and battery life, though you'll lose the ports. If you absolutely need all those physical connections in a light package, this Dell has a niche. Otherwise, the competition offers more for your money.

Verdict

I can only recommend the Dell Pro 14 to a very specific user: someone who prioritizes a ton of ports and a lightweight body above all else, and who doesn't mind slow performance and constantly managing a tiny 256GB drive. For everyone else, there are better, faster options out there for the same price or less.
