ASUS 17.3" G713PV-WS94 Review
This ASUS laptop packs a Ryzen 9 and RTX 4060 for solid gaming, but its crippling 8GB of RAM and heavy design make it a tough sell at $1699.
Overview
The ASUS Gaming Laptop with the Ryzen 9 7845HX and RTX 4060 is built for one thing: raw gaming power. It's got the muscle to handle modern titles at 1080p, but you're making some serious trade-offs to get there. This isn't a sleek, portable machine. It's a heavy, desktop-replacement style laptop that puts performance first.
Performance
The CPU and GPU are the stars here. That Ryzen 9 lands in the 90th percentile, and the RTX 4060 sits in the 80th, so gaming performance is genuinely solid for the price. But the 8GB of RAM is a massive bottleneck, landing in the 18th percentile. That's not enough for modern gaming and multitasking. You'll also be staring at a basic 1080p screen in the 16th percentile, and WiFi 4 is just outdated.

Value & Pricing
At $1699, the value proposition is shaky. You're paying for a high-end CPU and a good mid-range GPU, but they're hamstrung by bargain-bin components everywhere else. That 8GB of RAM alone makes this a hard sell. For the same money, you can find competitors that offer a much more balanced spec sheet without such glaring weak spots.
vs Competition
Compared to something like the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i, you'll likely get more RAM, a better screen, and similar GPU power for a comparable price. The MSI Vector 16 HX also competes directly and typically doesn't skimp on RAM. Even the ASUS Zenbook Duo, while not a pure gaming machine, offers far more innovation and portability. This ASUS feels like it cut too many corners to hit a price point that others are hitting with better overall packages.

Verdict
Only consider this if you are a pure gamer who plays at a desk 100% of the time and you plan to immediately upgrade the RAM yourself. For everyone else, the 8GB RAM and poor screen are deal-breakers. There are better, more complete gaming laptops at this price.
