The Samsung QN80F is the definition of a B+ TV. It does everything pretty well, but nothing exceptionally. For the price, we expected more from its picture.

The Samsung QN80F is a solid mid-range 4K TV that's good at a lot of things, but not great at any one thing. The one thing to know is this: it's a jack-of-all-trades. It's got a nice Mini-LED panel, decent gaming features, and Samsung's reliable Tizen smart platform. But when you look at the data, its picture quality score lands in the 43rd percentile, which means it's getting beat by more than half the TVs in our database. For a Neo QLED, that's a bit of a letdown. It's a perfectly fine TV, but it doesn't have that one killer feature that makes you say 'wow'.

This sits in a crowded middle. The Hisense U6 Series MiniLED offers similar Mini-LED tech for less money, though with a weaker smart platform. The Roku Pro Series is a direct competitor at this size and price, often with better local dimming. And if you care most about gaming, the LG OLED evo G5 (though more expensive) will run circles around it with perfect blacks and near-instant response. The QN80F is the safe, balanced choice if you want a bit of everything from a known brand.

Skip this if you're a movie buff or videophile chasing the best picture. Its 43rd percentile ranking for picture quality is a deal-breaker. Go look at an LG OLED or a higher-end Samsung Neo QLED instead. Also, if you have a super bright room, this TV's weak outdoor score suggests it'll struggle.

We can't give it a full-throated recommendation. The Samsung QN80F is a competent, all-around TV that won't disappoint the average viewer, but it also won't impress an enthusiast.
