Microsoft Surface Pro 11 Microsoft 13" Surface Pro for Business Copilot+ PC Review

The Surface Pro 11 is a premium Windows tablet with a stunning screen, but its high price and limited storage make it a tough sell against the competition.

Overview

The Surface Pro 11 is a fantastic 2-in-1 that finally gets the basics right. Its 13-inch PixelSense display is gorgeous, the new Intel 236V chip is plenty fast, and the overall build quality is top-notch. But here's the one thing you need to know: this is a premium Windows tablet that excels at being a laptop replacement, not a tablet-first device. If you want to run full desktop apps on a sleek slate, this is your best bet.

Performance

Performance is solid, but the real surprise is the GPU. It lands in the 89th percentile, which means it handles creative work and light gaming way better than you'd expect from a tablet. The Intel 236V 8-core CPU is no slouch either, sitting comfortably in the 76th percentile. The 16GB of RAM is fine, but honestly, it's the bare minimum for a pro machine in 2024. Don't expect to keep 50 Chrome tabs and Photoshop open without a hiccup.

Value & Pricing

At over $1270, the value proposition is shaky. You're paying a premium for the Surface brand and the 2-in-1 form factor. The specs, especially the storage and RAM, don't fully justify the price tag. You're buying the experience, not the hardware.

vs Competition

Compared to the 13-inch iPad Pro, the Surface Pro 11 wins on software flexibility (full Windows vs. iPadOS) but loses on raw performance, battery life, and app optimization for touch. Against the Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra, you're choosing between a better Android tablet experience and a full Windows laptop replacement. The Tab S10 has a better screen and speakers for media, but can't run your desktop software. The Lenovo Legion Go is a different beast entirely, focused on gaming.

Verdict

Buy the Surface Pro 11 if you absolutely need a Windows tablet for creative work or as a ultra-portable laptop. The screen and build are excellent. But if you just want a tablet for media and light work, the iPad Pro or Galaxy Tab S10 are better, more polished devices. For this price, the limited storage and average battery are hard to overlook.
