This lens is a weird one. It's a 100mm macro lens that's heavier than a brick and built like a tank, but it's also a surprisingly fun creative tool. Performance

vs Competition
Don't compare this to the Viltrox or Meike primes listed; those are general-purpose autofocus lenses. This TTArtisan is in its own specialized world. A more relevant comparison is something like the Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro. The Canon does 1.4x magnification (not 2x), has superb autofocus, legendary L-series build, and weather sealing. It's also over twice the price. The TTArtisan trades all that convenience and reliability for higher magnification and a lower cost. It's a tool for a specific job.

Verdict
This is a lens you buy for one reason: to shoot extreme close-up macro. If that's your passion, and you don't mind manual focus and a comically heavy lens, it delivers a unique capability for the money. For any other type of photography, or as your only macro lens, it's the wrong choice. Get a standard autofocus macro instead.
