Le Snapdragon X Plus place ce Surface Laptop 7 dans les meilleurs CPU portables (95e percentile), et sa légèreté bluffe. Mais le GPU intégré et les bugs de compatibilité ARM le rendent inutilisable pour les photographes ou les utilisateurs de logiciels spécialisés. Un excellent laptop de bureautique, à condition de ne pas sortir des sentiers battus.
Aperçu
Le Microsoft Surface Laptop 7 cache un des processeurs les plus véloce du marché sous son châssis en aluminium de 1,34 kg. Dans notre base de données, le Snapdragon X Plus se classe parmi les meilleurs, avec une puissance CPU qui écrase la plupart des ultraportables. Ajoutez à ça un écran 13,8 pouces 120 Hz lumineux et une autonomie batterie qui tient toute la journée, et vous obtenez une machine taillée pour la bureautique intensive et le multitâche léger. Sur le papier, c'est une réussite.
Mais sous Windows 11 Pro ARM, tout n'est pas rose. L'absence de compatibilité avec de nombreux logiciels x86 classiques, comme Adobe Photoshop ou certains pilotes d'imprimante, gâche la fête. Si vous restez dans l'écosystème Microsoft, vous allez adorer. Sinon, attendez-vous à des surprises désagréables.
Performances
Avec son Snapdragon X Plus 10 cœurs à 3,4 GHz, ce Surface se paye le luxe de dépasser la quasi-totalité des portables de sa catégorie sur les tâches CPU. Les benchmarks placent la puce en tête de liste, et dans la vraie vie, vous sentirez une réactivité immédiate sur tout ce qui touche à la productivité : navigation web avec 30 onglets, compilation de code, montage photo léger avec les outils Microsoft. Le tout accompagné de 16 Go de LPDDR5X soudés, suffisants pour du multitâche sérieux sans swap excessif.
Par contre, le GPU Adreno intégré reste le maillon faible. Classé en dessous de la moyenne de notre base, il plafonne vite dès qu'on lance un jeu un peu exigeant ou un rendu 3D. Notre note « gaming » tombe à 8,8/100, ce qui confirme que ce laptop n'est pas fait pour ça. Pour le streaming vidéo et les animations Windows, ça passe impeccablement, mais les créatifs lourds et les gamers doivent regarder ailleurs.

Avec un prix qui oscille entre 929$ et 1630$ selon les enseignes, il y a une marge de 701$ qui vaut le coup de magasiner. On l'a repéré à partir de 929$ sur certains sites, ce qui le rend alors très compétitif pour un laptop équipé d'un CPU aussi véloce. Pour qui vit sous Office 365, Edge et Teams, c'est une affaire. Mais si vous avez besoin de plus de stockage ou d'une carte graphique solide, la facture monte vite et le Surface perd de son intérêt face à des machines x86 mieux équilibrées.
Face à la concurrence
Face au Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 13, le Surface Laptop 7 l'emporte haut la main sur la vitesse processeur (le Snapdragon X Plus surpasse le Core Ultra 7 d'environ 30% sur les tâches multi-thread), mais le ThinkPad conserve une compatibilité logicielle totale en x86 et un clavier légendaire. Le MacBook Pro M5 Pro offre une expérience graphique bien plus musclée et un écosystème sans accroc, mais il coûte nettement plus cher et reste sous macOS. Si vous avez besoin d'un PC Windows puissant et ultraléger sans sortir de l'univers Microsoft, le Surface est difficile à battre, à condition d'accepter son GPU faiblard et ses limitations ARM.
