HP HP - 17.3" Full HD Laptop - AMD Ryzen 5 7520U 2023 Review
This HP laptop offers a massive 17-inch screen and a discrete GPU for under $420, but its slow processor and limited 8GB of RAM hold it back from being a true value.
Overview
This HP 17-inch laptop is a big screen on a budget. It's got a massive 17.3-inch display and a discrete GPU, which is rare at this price. But you're not getting a powerhouse here. It's more about the sheer screen real estate for basic tasks and casual gaming.
Performance
The AMD Ryzen 5 7520U is a basic 4-core chip, landing in the 16th percentile for CPU power. It's fine for web browsing and office work, but don't expect it to handle heavy multitasking or video editing. The real surprise is the GPU, which scores in the 98th percentile. That means it punches way above its weight class for graphics, making it a solid pick for light gaming. Just know the 8GB of RAM is a bottleneck.

Value & Pricing
For between $350 and $419, you're getting a lot of screen and a surprisingly capable GPU. That's the trade-off. You sacrifice portability, a fast processor, and decent RAM for a big display that can handle some games. If that's exactly what you need, it's a decent deal. If you need a balanced laptop, look elsewhere.
vs Competition
Compared to a Lenovo Legion or MSI Vector, this HP isn't a real gaming laptop. Those have much faster CPUs and better cooling. But they also cost three times as much. Next to an ASUS Zenbook Duo, you lose the innovative dual-screen design and portability, but you gain that dedicated GPU for cheaper. Against an Apple MacBook Pro, there's no comparison on performance or build quality, but the price gap is massive.

Verdict
Buy this if you want a cheap, big-screen laptop for watching movies, basic work, and playing older or less demanding games. Don't buy it if you need to do serious multitasking, value portability, or want a crisp, bright display. It's a niche pick for a very specific budget need.
