The Dell Inspiron 3530 is a basic, no-frills laptop. It's got a 15.6-inch screen, a 512GB SSD, and runs Windows 11. For the price, it gets you online and handles everyday tasks.

That's really the story here. It's an entry-level machine. The Intel 1305U CPU and 8GB of RAM are fine for web browsing and documents, but that's about it. Don't expect it to do anything fancy.

Performance is exactly what you'd expect from the specs. The 5-core Intel 1305U lands in the 15th percentile for CPU power, so it's slow. The 8GB of RAM is even weaker, sitting in the 4th percentile. It'll open your browser and a few tabs, but multitasking will make it chug. The integrated Intel UHD Graphics are fine for video calls, but that's it. Gaming is a non-starter, scoring a 9.1 out of 100.

At around $331, it's cheap. That's the main value prop. You're paying for a functional laptop that runs Windows. If your budget is extremely tight and you just need something for the most basic tasks, it's an option. But you are making serious compromises for that low price.

This isn't competing with the MacBook Pro or gaming laptops on that list. For a similar price, look at used or refurbished models. They'll often have better specs. Buy this only if your budget is absolutely locked at $300-$350 and you need a new Windows laptop for very light use. Students on a severe budget might consider it for note-taking and web research. For anyone else, saving a bit more for a model with 16GB of RAM will be a dramatically better experience.
