Lenovo Legion 16" Pro 7i Review
The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i packs desktop-level gaming performance and a stunning OLED display into a heavy but powerful package. It's a fantastic choice if you rarely leave your desk.
Overview
The Lenovo Legion Pro 7i is a monster of a gaming laptop that's also shockingly good at everything else. The one thing you need to know is that this is a desktop replacement that doesn't ask you to compromise on the screen or storage. With a top-tier Intel CPU, an RTX 5070 Ti, and a stunning OLED display, it's built to crush games and creative work. Just don't plan on carrying it around all day.
Performance
The numbers don't lie. That RTX 5070 Ti GPU lands in the 92nd percentile, and you feel it. Games at the native 1600p resolution are buttery smooth, hitting that 240Hz cap in competitive titles. What surprised me was how well the 13-core Intel CPU handled creator tasks. Rendering and encoding felt as fast as some dedicated workstations, which explains that 93.2 creator score. This thing is a dual-threat.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- The 16-inch OLED screen is absolutely gorgeous. 500 nits makes HDR pop, and 240Hz is overkill in the best way. 97th
- No storage anxiety here. The 2TB SSD is massive and fast, sitting in the 93rd percentile. 96th
- Specs are perfectly balanced for 2025. The 32GB of RAM and RTX 5070 Ti combo means you're set for years. 95th
- Great port selection with Thunderbolt and HDMI 2.1 for connecting to modern monitors or TVs. 94th
Cons
- It's a chonker. At 2.71kg and in the 8th percentile for compactness, this is not a portable machine. 7th
- Battery life with that powerful hardware and OLED screen is predictably short. Keep the 99Wh charger handy. 23th
- The 'reliability' score is just okay at the 75th percentile. It's powerful, but maybe not built like a tank.
- It runs loud under full load. The fans have to work hard to cool all that performance.

Value & Pricing
At $2099, this is a serious investment, but you're getting near-desktop power in a (heavy) laptop form factor. The screen and storage alone would cost a fortune to upgrade separately. If you need this much performance, it's worth every penny.
Price History
vs Competition
The most relevant competitor is the MSI Vector 16 HX. It'll have similar raw power, but you're likely trading the Legion's beautiful OLED for a faster LCD panel. If portability is a concern, look at the ASUS Zenbook Duo, but know you'll sacrifice massive amounts of gaming performance. The Apple MacBook Pro is in a different league for battery life and build quality, but you're locked into macOS and paying a huge premium for similar creative scores. For a pure Windows gaming powerhouse, this Legion is hard to beat.

Verdict
If you want a single machine that dominates both gaming and content creation, and you don't need to carry it far, buy the Legion Pro 7i. It's a spec sheet dream with a screen to match. Just be honest with yourself about the weight and battery life. For a stationary powerhouse, this is an easy recommendation.
