Leica Q43 Compact Black Review
The Leica Q3 takes beautiful 60MP photos, but its sky-high price and average performance make it a tough sell. Here's who should actually buy it.
Overview
The Leica Q3 is a fixed-lens camera that costs more than most people's entire setups. It's built around a 60MP full-frame sensor and a sharp 28mm f/1.7 lens, and it can shoot 8K video. That sounds amazing on paper, but the numbers tell a different story. This isn't a do-it-all camera. It's a very specific, very expensive tool for a certain kind of photographer who values the Leica look and feel above all else.
Performance
The 60MP sensor is detailed, but its overall sensor score lands in the 34th percentile, which means many cheaper cameras have better overall image quality. The 15fps burst is fast (85th percentile) and the connectivity is great, but the autofocus and video scores are below average. There's no in-body stabilization either, which is a big miss at this price. It's fast in one specific way, but overall performance is a mixed bag.

Value & Pricing
At over $7,300, the value proposition is brutal. You're paying a massive premium for the red dot and the experience. For that money, you could buy a top-tier Sony or Canon mirrorless body and two or three pro-level lenses. This camera's value is entirely emotional, not practical.
vs Competition
Stack this up against the competition and the gaps are clear. The Canon EOS R6 II has far better autofocus, stabilization, and video for half the price, but you need to buy lenses. The Sony ZV-E10 II is a vlogging beast for a fraction of the cost. Even the Fujifilm X-E5 offers a more fun, versatile shooting experience for casual use. The Q3 loses on specs to almost everyone, but it wins on that intangible Leica feel.

Verdict
Buy this only if you're a Leica devotee who must have the latest fixed-lens compact and money is no object. For everyone else, especially vloggers or sports shooters, there are dramatically better and more affordable options from Canon, Sony, and Nikon that will actually improve your photos.
