This CLX gaming PC is a storage-packed relic. You get last-gen guts and slow WiFi for a premium price. Just buy something newer.

Here's the thing about the CLX Set Gaming PC: it's a power-hungry beast that's weirdly stuck in the past. You're getting a last-gen Intel i9 and an RTX 4060 Ti, which is a solid combo, but it's all wrapped up in a package that feels like it missed a memo. The 4TB hard drive is a massive throwback, and the WiFi 5 connectivity is just plain outdated for a $2000 machine in 2024. The one thing to know? This is a lot of raw storage and decent gaming power, but you're paying for components that were hot two years ago.

The performance is exactly what you'd expect from the specs, which is both good and bad. The i9 12900KF and RTX 4060 Ti will crush 1080p gaming and handle 1440p just fine. In our database, the CPU lands in the 75th percentile and the GPU in the 72nd, so it's firmly in the 'very good, not elite' tier. What surprised us was the storage setup. That single 1TB NVMe SSD is going to fill up fast with modern games, forcing you to rely on that ancient 4TB HDD for everything else, which will feel like molasses. For a machine scoring in the 96th percentile for storage capacity, the speed compromise is real.

At $1990, the value proposition is shaky. You're paying a premium for last-gen tech wrapped around a gigantic, slow hard drive. For the same money, you could build a system with a current-gen CPU and a faster GPU, or buy a pre-built that doesn't saddle you with WiFi 5.

Look at the HP Omen 45L or the Lenovo Legion Tower 5i. Both competitors at this price point will typically give you a more modern platform (like an Intel Core Ultra or 13th/14th-gen i7), WiFi 6, and might skip the pointless HDD in favor of a larger, faster SSD. The CLX wins on sheer storage capacity if you need a digital warehouse, but loses everywhere else in terms of modern features and efficiency. The Alienware Aurora is also in the mix, but you're often paying for the brand and flashy case more than performance.

If you care about modern features like WiFi 6 or want a system built with current-generation components, this isn't it. Go get an HP Omen 45L or build your own. Also, skip this if you think all 4TB of storage will be fast—it won't be.

We can't recommend this specific CLX config. The outdated WiFi and reliance on a slow HDD for bulk storage are deal-breakers at this price. It's a machine built around a component list from 2022. If you need tons of storage, buy a modern PC with a fast 2TB SSD and add a huge external drive later. This PC is for someone who sees '4TB' and clicks buy without reading the fine print about it being a hard drive.
