Fujifilm X-T50 FUJIFILM X-T50 Mirrorless Camera with XF 16-50mm Review

The Fujifilm X-T50 is a lightweight, stylish camera that packs a serious punch. It's built around a new 40.2MP APS-C sensor, which is a big jump in resolution for Fujifilm's mid-range bodies.

You get that classic Fujifilm look and feel in a compact 408g package. It's not weather-sealed, but the build quality is top-notch, landing in the 93rd percentile. This is a camera for photographers who want high image quality without a heavy kit.

That 40.2MP sensor is the star. It captures stunning detail and vibrant colors, putting it in the 82nd percentile for sensor performance. The 5-axis IBIS is excellent too, at the 90th percentile, making handheld shots in low light much easier. But there are compromises. The autofocus is just okay, sitting in the 45th percentile, and the 13fps mechanical burst is decent but not class-leading. The fixed display and mediocre battery life (49th percentile) also hold it back for some uses.

At $1599, it's a premium price for an APS-C camera. You're paying for that high-resolution sensor and the Fujifilm experience. If 40MP is a must-have for you in this size, it's compelling. But if you don't need all those pixels, there are cheaper ways to get into the Fujifilm system with similar performance in other areas.

Compared to the Sony ZV-E10 II, the X-T50 is a far more serious stills camera but worse for vlogging due to its fixed screen. The Nikon Z fc offers similar retro style but with a much lower-res sensor. The real internal competition is the Fujifilm X-E5. The X-T50 has a newer, higher-res sensor and IBIS, but the X-E5 might be a better value if you don't need those specific upgrades. Against full-frame options like the Canon R6 Mark II, you're trading sensor size for a much smaller, lighter body.

Buy this if you're a Fujifilm fan or a photographer who values a compact, well-built body and wants the highest resolution possible in the APS-C format. It's great for travel and street photography. Skip it if you shoot a lot of video, need a flip-out screen for vlogging, or require the absolute best autofocus for fast-moving subjects.
