HP EliteBook HP EliteBook 845 G11 14" Touchscreen Notebook - Review

The HP EliteBook 845 G11 is a solid business laptop that gets the basics right, but it's not going to wow you. The one thing you need to know? It's a perfectly competent machine for office work, but you're paying for the EliteBook brand and build quality more than you are for cutting-edge specs. That AMD 8840U chip is plenty fast for daily tasks, but everything else about this machine feels like it's checking boxes from a 2022 spec sheet.

The AMD 8840U is the star here, landing in the 65th percentile for CPU power. It's snappy for multitasking and handles business apps without a sweat. What surprised me was how mediocre everything else feels. The integrated Radeon graphics are in the 18th percentile, which is frankly terrible for anything beyond basic video playback. And that 16GB of RAM? It's just average, sitting right at the 50th percentile mark. This isn't a slow machine, but it's not a fast one either.

At $899, this is a tough sell. You're getting last year's screen tech, weak graphics, and mediocre reliability in a business chassis. If you need Windows and an AMD chip, you can probably find better value in a consumer-grade laptop. This feels like a corporate bulk-order special, not a smart personal purchase.

Forget comparing this to gaming laptops like the MSI Vector or Gigabyte Aorus—that's not its world. The real competition is the ASUS Zenbook Duo, which offers far more innovation with its dual-screen design for similar productivity use, and the Apple MacBook Pro, which absolutely demolishes it in build quality, screen, and performance, though at a much higher price. Even among Windows business laptops, this EliteBook feels dated next to Lenovo's offerings.

Skip it. Unless your IT department is forcing this specific model on you, there's no compelling reason to buy the EliteBook 845 G11. The combination of a weak screen, terrible graphics, and poor reliability scores, all at nearly $900, makes it a bad deal. Look at the ASUS Zenbook Duo for a more interesting Windows option, or stretch your budget for a base MacBook Pro if you want a premium 14-inch laptop that will actually last.
