Apple MacBook Pro 14.2" 14-inch M5 chip Space Black 2025 Review
Apple's latest 14-inch MacBook Pro refines a winning formula with the M5 chip. The screen is still unmatched, but gaming performance and base RAM hold it back from being perfect.
Overview
Apple's 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 chip is a refinement of an already excellent formula. It's the same gorgeous Mini-LED display and premium build you expect, now with a bit more pep under the hood. This isn't a radical redesign, but a solid update for anyone ready to move on from an older Intel or even M-series Mac.
Performance
The M5's 10-core CPU is quick, landing in the 75th percentile. It'll handle professional creative work and daily tasks without breaking a sweat. The big asterisk is gaming, where its integrated GPU sits in the 18th percentile. It's fine for casual stuff, but don't buy this as a gaming laptop. The 16GB of RAM is also a bit light for heavy multitaskers, ranking only in the 32nd percentile.

Value & Pricing
At $1599, you're paying for that unbeatable screen, fantastic build, and the seamless macOS experience. The raw specs, especially the RAM and GPU, don't look amazing on paper compared to Windows rivals. But if you live in Apple's ecosystem and value design and battery life, the price makes more sense.
Price History
vs Competition
Compared to the more powerful M4 Max MacBook Pro, this M5 model is the sensible choice for most people who don't need extreme GPU power. Against Windows machines like the Lenovo Legion Pro 7i or MSI Vector 16, you lose big on gaming and raw specs per dollar, but you gain massively in battery life, portability, and that pristine screen. The ASUS Zenbook Duo offers wild dual-screen flexibility for similar creative work, but with less polish and integration.

Verdict
Buy this if you're a creative pro, student, or business user who prioritizes a best-in-class screen, all-day battery, and a no-compromise premium build. Skip it if you're a gamer, a heavy multitasker who needs 32GB+ of RAM, or if you're purely chasing the highest specs for your budget.
