Fujifilm Fujinon XF 35mm F0.95 APS-C Manual Focus Prime Lens for Review
The Fujinon 35mm f/0.95 delivers stunning, creamy bokeh for an astonishingly low price. Just be ready to focus manually.
Overview
This is the Fujinon XF 35mm F0.95, a manual focus prime lens for Fujifilm X-mount cameras. It's built for one thing: creating an absolutely massive, creamy blur behind your subject. Forget autofocus and image stabilization, this lens is all about that f/0.95 aperture and the control it gives you.
At 35mm on an APS-C sensor, it's a classic 'normal' field of view, perfect for portraits and street shots. The all-metal body feels solid, though it's a bit heavy at 448 grams. Just know going in, this is a specialty tool, not your everyday walk-around lens.
Performance
The performance story is simple. Its aperture is in the 99th percentile, and its bokeh quality scores in the 92nd. That f/0.95 opening lets in a ton of light and melts backgrounds like butter. Sharpness is decent, especially for portraits, but its overall optical score is only in the 33rd percentile, so don't expect clinical corner-to-corner sharpness. It also has a surprisingly good 95th percentile score for close-focusing, which is a nice bonus for detail shots.

Value & Pricing
At around $200, this lens is a steal for the experience it offers. You're getting an f/0.95 aperture for the price of a basic f/1.8 autofocus lens. The value is entirely in that unique, ultra-shallow depth-of-field look. If that's your goal, it's fantastic. If you need autofocus for fast-moving subjects, look elsewhere.
vs Competition
Stack it up against the competition and its role is clear. The Viltrox 35mm f/1.7 is cheaper and has autofocus, but you lose over a full stop of light and that magical bokeh. The Nikon Z 35mm f/1.8 S is optically superior and has AF, but it's for a different system and costs several times more. Even Fuji's own XF 35mm f/2 has weather sealing and lightning-fast AF. This Fujinon doesn't beat them on specs, it offers a different, more hands-on creative experience for a very low price.

Verdict
Buy this lens if you shoot portraits, street, or creative projects and you want to play with extreme shallow depth of field on a budget. It's for the photographer who doesn't mind manual focus and values character and unique rendering over technical perfection. If you need autofocus for kids or pets, or a lens for landscapes, this isn't it.
