HP 14" 2025 Student Review

The HP 2025 is a bare-bones laptop for a bare-bones budget. The screen and storage are major letdowns, but it includes Office 365. Only consider it if your needs are extremely simple.

Overview

The HP 2025 Student Business Laptop is a basic machine for a tight budget. It's built for simple tasks like web browsing, documents, and video calls, and it comes with Windows 11 and a year of Office 365 right out of the box.

Honestly, this is a starter laptop. The Intel N150 processor and 8GB of RAM are entry-level specs. It's fine for checking email and writing papers, but you're not going to be editing videos or playing games on this thing.

Performance

Performance is exactly what you'd expect from the specs. The Intel N150 CPU sits in the 9th percentile, so it's slow. It'll handle a dozen Chrome tabs and a Word doc, but that's about it. The integrated Intel graphics are middle-of-the-road (50th percentile), but the 1366x768 screen is in the bottom 3% for quality. It's dim and low-res. The 128GB SSD is tiny and ranks in the 9th percentile, so you'll be managing storage constantly.

Value & Pricing

Its value depends entirely on the price. At the low end of its range (around $250), it's a passable emergency laptop for a student who only needs it for web research and essays. If you see it priced near $300, it's a hard pass. You can find better used or refurbished machines with nicer screens and more storage for that money.

vs Competition

Don't even compare it to the MacBook Pro or gaming laptops on the list. That's like comparing a scooter to a sports car. For a real budget alternative, look at used business laptops like older ThinkPads or Latitudes. They often have better 1080p screens, more RAM, and larger SSDs for a similar price. The ASUS Zenbook Duo is in another league entirely for multitasking, but it costs several times more.

Verdict

Buy this only if your budget is absolutely rock-bottom and your needs are incredibly basic. It's for a student who needs a laptop for Google Docs, Zoom classes, and not much else. If you can stretch your budget by even $100, you'll get a significantly better experience with a nicer screen and more storage that won't drive you crazy.
