So, the Zeiss Touit 50mm f/2.8 Macro. It's a Zeiss lens for Fujifilm X-mount cameras, and it's built like a tank. The metal barrel feels premium, and the stabilization is top-notch, ranking in the 87th percentile. But here's the thing you need to know right away: it's a macro lens that's not great at macro work. That's a pretty big deal.

The stabilization is the star here. It's fantastic and makes handheld shooting a breeze. The autofocus is smooth, but it's only in the 46th percentile, so it's not the fastest. The real letdown is the macro performance, which lands in the 17th percentile. For a lens with 'Macro' in the name, that's a problem. Image quality is decent, but its optical score is only in the 34th percentile, which is surprising for Zeiss.

At $849, this is a tough sell. You're paying a premium for the Zeiss name and the excellent build and stabilization. But the core feature, macro capability, underperforms. There are much cheaper macro lenses, and better-performing general-purpose primes, that make this a hard lens to justify for most people.

Look at the Viltrox 35mm F1.7. It's a fraction of the price, has a wider aperture for better low light and bokeh, and its autofocus is likely comparable. For actual macro work, you'd be better off with a dedicated lens like a Laowa. Even Fujifilm's own XF 60mm f/2.4 R Macro, while older, might be a more balanced choice. This Zeiss sits in an awkward spot where it's not the best at anything except build feel.

Only buy this if you absolutely need Zeiss build quality and top-tier stabilization on your Fuji, and you don't care about true 1:1 macro. For everyone else, especially macro enthusiasts, there are better and cheaper options out there. It's a niche lens for a very specific user.
