Dell Inspiron 15 I3567-5949BLK-PUS Review

The Dell Inspiron 15 packs old, slow hardware into a basic chassis. Its terrible screen and ancient processor make it a bad buy, even at $500.

Overview

Look, this Dell Inspiron is a basic laptop that's already showing its age. The one thing you need to know is that its 7th Gen Intel Core i5-7200U is painfully slow by today's standards, landing in the 3rd percentile for CPU performance. It's fine for checking email and browsing the web, but that's about it. The 256GB SSD is small, and the 8GB of RAM is the bare minimum for modern Windows 10. It's a machine built for simple tasks, and it struggles with anything more.

Performance

Honestly, nothing here is surprising. It's all just slow. The dual-core i5-7200U feels sluggish, and the integrated Intel HD 620 graphics are predictably bad for anything but the most basic video playback. The screen resolution is a major letdown. The spec sheet says 1920x1080, but the highlights mention a 'typical' 1366x768 HD panel, which is a blurry, low-quality display by 2024 standards. It's exactly as underwhelming as the numbers suggest.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • It turns on and runs Windows. For under $500, that's something. 91th
  • The 256GB SSD is better than a hard drive for boot times.
  • It's physically light and thin for a 15-inch laptop.

Cons

  • The processor is ancient and slow. Don't even think about multitasking. 2th
  • The screen is likely a terrible 1366x768 panel. That's a deal-breaker. 9th
  • 8GB of RAM is not enough for comfortable use today. It will feel cramped. 17th
  • It scored a 7.6/100 for gaming. You can't game on this. At all. 26th

Value & Pricing

At $498, this is not a good value. You're paying for old, underpowered hardware wrapped in a plastic chassis. For the same money, you can find much newer refurbished business laptops or entry-level modern Chromebooks that will feel faster and last longer. This feels like clearing out old warehouse stock.

$498

vs Competition

Forget the high-end competitors like the MacBook Pro or Legion Pro. They're in a different universe. The real question is why you'd buy this over a modern budget option. A new $500 Chromebook or a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad from the last few years will have a better screen, a more modern processor, and likely better build quality. Even the base model ASUS Zenbook Duo, while more expensive, shows what modern engineering can do. This Dell is competing with laptops from five years ago, and it's losing.

Verdict

I can't recommend buying this laptop new in 2024. It's built with outdated, low-tier components that were mediocre even when they were new. The terrible screen and anemic CPU are immediate red flags. Save your money, look for a refurbished business laptop, or spend a little more on a modern entry-level machine. This one is a hard pass.
