How we make money
When you click a product link on our site and buy something, we may earn a small commission from the retailer. It costs you nothing extra — the price is the same whether you use our link or go directly to the store.
That's our main source of revenue. It's what keeps the site running, pays for our data infrastructure, and lets us keep recommendations free for everyone. We think that's a pretty fair trade.
Programs we participate in
Amazon Associates
Top Tech Choices is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases.
Best Buy Affiliate Program
We earn commissions on qualifying purchases made through our links to BestBuy.com.
B&H Photo Affiliate Program
We earn commissions on qualifying purchases made through our links to BHPhotoVideo.com.
Impact (Lenovo and others)
We participate in affiliate programs through the Impact platform, which includes partnerships with manufacturers like Lenovo.
Other programs
We may participate in other retailer or manufacturer affiliate programs. We'll keep this list updated as things change.
What about manufacturer relationships?
We work with tech manufacturers — Lenovo, Asus, HP, Logitech, Fairphone, and others — who share product data and specifications with us. This helps us evaluate products more thoroughly. More data = better reviews.
The important part
Manufacturers who share data with us get zero influence over our scores, rankings, or what we write about their products. Our scoring system treats every product the same way. A product from a partner manufacturer can (and does) score lower than a competitor's product. That's how it should work.
Does this affect our recommendations?
No. And we mean that. Here's why you should believe us:
- Rankings are algorithm-driven. Products are scored by our automated system, not hand-picked by someone who checked commission rates first
- We recommend products with zero commission. If a product with no affiliate program is the best option, we recommend it anyway. Happens more often than you'd think
- Nobody can pay for placement. No "sponsored #1 pick" slots. No "featured product" boosts. The best product wins, period
- Same methodology, every time. A $200 laptop and a $3,000 laptop get evaluated using the exact same criteria for their category
Our recommendations are only useful if you trust them. The moment we start gaming rankings for commissions, nobody has a reason to visit this site. We'd rather make less money and keep the recommendations honest.
How to spot affiliate links
Product links that take you to a retailer's website are affiliate links. We also put a notice in the footer of every page. You're never obligated to use our links — if you'd rather go directly to the retailer, our recommendations are the same either way.
